Today the I.P.S. stable of work includes equipment for track maintenance, replacement parts of all kinds for freight and passenger cars and diesel locomotives, a variety of rebuilds and repairs, the acceptance of engineering challenges to design and make tools and parts that can solve any number of problems and increase efficiency. Busy, cost-conscious railways are always impressed with the speed at which I.P.S. turns jobs around, delivers the goods, and improves quality and design-all at a competitive price. From a 16,000-square-foot plant in the Fraser Valley community of Maple Ridge, I.P.S. now fabricates, supplies, rebuilds and repairs thousands of precision parts that are used by major railway customers across Canada and the United States and in such distant markets as Malaysia, Australia, Zambia and South Africa.

Custom Parts, A Better Job

The range of track maintenance products at IPS includes everything from fibre bushings, to giant articulating booms, with a whole range of precision parts and equipment in between.
Among the company's product inventory are two sizes of custom designed, manufactured and tested 'tongs' capable of supporting everything from single ties to a hundred yards of rail. Also a complete line of locomotive seating for engineers and crew.
Everyday work at the shop includes the custom design and manufacture of dozens of now-obsolete items that are still required for valuable, still functioning railway equipment. I.P.S. accepts the challenge to build anything that is needed, but is no longer "on the shelf."
I.P.S. expertise crosses easily from freight to passenger work. It performs wheel carriage assembly repair for passenger cars as easily as it supplies superior custom-made engineer and crew seating for the biggest and best locomotives in the business.

I.P.S. has a comprehensive library of drawings and specifications for the more than 3,000 items it manufactures, items are identified by OEM and customer part numbers.
Our ISO 9002 Quality Assurance program permits us to maintain the highest standards in quality and service throughout this wide and diversified range of products. High quality I.P.S., parts are also available from a distribution warehouse in Louisville, Kentucky to better serve our Central and East Coast U.S. customers. Our turnaround times for orders are second to none. We know that trains don't make money by standing still.

Skilled People, Diverse Equipment

A score of talented trades people, many of them long-term employees of the company, are involved in producing the precision engineered work that is turned out by I.P.S.
Vancouver, which is less than an hour from the I.P.S. factory, is the centre of industry and transportation for all of Western Canada and is the readily accessible source for all the common and not so common materials that I.P.S. needs. Steel, aluminium, brass, bronze, alloy castings and non-metallic fibres and plastics are all in stock at I.P.S., waiting to be transformed into finished products. Depending on the job, these materials are milled, tooled, turned and shaped in a variety of milling machines, lathes, brakes and shears and other heavy equipment in the plant's orderly layout, into axles, wheels, snow ploughs and blowers, brush cutters, hydraulics and all kinds of replacement parts for other manufactured machinery. Tolerances are as precise as .0001 of an inch.
